  • Subcommittees

    • Institutional Compliance Committee

      • The University of Tennessee, Knoxville provides a supportive environment for scholars and students to engage in teaching, research, and public service. Integrity in our work and compliance with applicable laws and regulations are critical to our academic enterprise and the university’s operations. The primary locus of compliance with applicable laws and regulations is in the UT academic and administrative units that are responsible for policy development and implementation of compliance issues. The mission of the campus Institutional Compliance Committee (ICC) is to promote excellence in all our compliance efforts to ensure integrity and compliance with our legal, regulatory, and ethical responsibilities.

    • Graduate Council Representative

      • The mission of the Graduate Council is to promote excellence in graduate education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The Graduate Council establishes standards for admission, retention, and graduation; assesses curricular revisions and new proposals for graduate programs; evaluates interdisciplinary, intercollegiate and international programs; and considers new initiatives and other matters of policy pertaining to graduate programs. Graduate Council is a special committee of the Faculty Senate that works closely with the Graduate School and a variety of other campus bodies to fulfill its mission.

      • Reviews SARIF E&I applications and makes recommendations for the final award list

      • Reviews SARIF GRA applications and makes recommendations for the final award list

      • Typically 3 faculty and 4 ADRs

  • Research Council Meetings

    These tasks may be accomplished by either the ORIED Administrative Coordinator or the Research Council, as necessary

    • Create meeting schedule (which should be done before the fall semester starts) and associated zoom rooms

    • Create and distribute meeting minutes

  • Chair Responsibilities

    • Provide Administrative Coordinator list of Council members for academic year

      • Faculty from the Senate

      • All the ADRs, including … (ex-officio)

      • Three representatives from the Graduate Student Senate (ex-officio)

      • Representatives from ORIED (ex-officio)

      • Representatives from UT-ORII, OIT, and Communications (ex-officio)

    • Set meeting agenda and invite speakers

    • Make subcommittee assignments and provide to ORIED Administrative Coordinator.

  • ORIED Responsibilities

    • Inform the Research Council of any personnel changes in any relevant administration offices

    • Inform Research Council members of the subcommittee meeting schedule

    • Help ensure that subcommittee meetings are scheduled at times when Research Council faculty can attend

    • Facilitate communication between Research Council members and subcommittee chairs
